When disaster strikes, kindness steps up.
Jimmy Finch isn’t just someone who helps—he’s someone who shows up. His story began in Mayfield, Kentucky, in December 2021, when a powerful tornado devastated the town. Though Jimmy lived in Clarksville, Tennessee, he knew he had to do something. So, he loaded up his truck, grabbed his cooker, and drove 90 minutes to Mayfield—no plan, no sponsors, just an unwavering belief that a warm meal and a helping hand could bring comfort to those who had lost everything.

What makes Jimmy’s story even more remarkable? He wasn’t a professional chef—he was a handyman. But that didn’t matter. He saw people in need and started cooking, setting up across from the Mayfield post office to serve hot meals. Word spread, donations poured in, and Jimmy stayed—two weeks later, he was still there, still cooking, still helping. But it wasn’t just food he provided—he repaired roofs, assisted families, and made sure recovery workers weren’t forgotten.

Jimmy’s dedication didn’t stop in Mayfield. When Hurricane Ian struck Fort Myers, Florida, in September 2022, leaving devastation in its wake, Jimmy and his nonprofit—Jimmy Finch’s Cultivating Hope—were there. He continued his mission, feeding survivors, first responders, and cleanup crews in areas where food was scarce. His work became a beacon of hope, proving that small acts of kindness can turn into something much bigger.

Jimmy’s efforts haven’t gone unnoticed. His inspiring work caught the attention of Nick Cannon, who featured him on “What’s Poppin”, bringing national recognition to his mission of feeding and supporting disaster-stricken communities.
Today, Jimmy and his team travel to disaster-affected communities, providing food, relief, and support to those in need. Whether it’s Mayfield, Fort Myers, or wherever help is needed most, Jimmy Finch’s Cultivating Hope ensures that survivors, emergency workers, and volunteers always have a meal—and always have hope.
If you see Jimmy cooking, fixing a roof, or lending a hand, take a moment to say thanks. Because hope doesn’t just happen—it’s cultivated, one act of kindness at a time.
